Monday is World Hypertension Day!

Monday 17 May 2010 Posted by admin Post comment »

The World Hypertension days draws attention to high blood pressure, its consequences and ways to prevent and highlights this year, the risk factor of obesity, because obesity leads to high blood pressure.

The 17th May 2010 is therefore under the motto "too much weight increases blood pressure!"

High blood pressure (hypertension) is a common disease, approximately 35 million people in Germany have high blood pressure.

Certain risk factors for hypertension are known and may well be affected. This includes above all the excess weight - in the industrialized nations a "weighty" problem: the Germans bring in even the most countries compared to the scale. Only recently was the IASO International survey show that in Germany 75% of men and 59% of women are overweight. The consequences of high blood pressure are serious, because the disease is associated with a significantly increased risk of suffering serious cardiovascular diseases (stroke, heart attack, kidney failure, blood vessel damage), especially if the hypertension is not diagnosed and treated.

Decrease in obesity is an effective measure for prevention of high blood pressure as well to therapy. In less overweight, the blood pressure medicines work better. Upon reaching the normal weight normalizes the blood pressure frequently.

The World Hypertension Day 2010 wants to make the link between obesity and high blood pressure carefully and raise general awareness of the disease, high blood pressure. He wants to motivate overweight people to lose weight and so the pressure to take their vessels, because, "Too much weight increases blood pressure!"
