PAVING OVER ACTIVE BLADDER EASIER EVERYDAY

A patch that releases the active ingredient oxybutynin through the skin into the body allows a convenient and effective treatment for overactive bladder. Improve within six months, so that both the incontinence and the quality of life of patients.

This result has a study with 2900 participants with a diagnosis of "overactive bladder", which were treated for six months with an oxybutynin patch (Kentera ®). The patch they glued to the abdomen, hips or buttocks and changed it twice a week. At the beginning, during and at the end of the study they completed a special questionnaire with 27 to 10 aspects of life.

After six years have been for nine of the ten areas surveyed to determine clinically and statistically significant improvements. Particularly marked improvement in the severity of incontinence symptoms, impairments in daily life, ability to work and household chores had to do, physical limitations, and sleep and daytime sleepiness. Here, the proportion of patients who reported an improvement of around 40% each.

The medication was generally well tolerated. Even anticholinergic effects were rare: dry mouth was 2.6% before no more frequently than with placebo. In 14% of the participants came to skin reactions.
